Grab yourself an NVIDIA RTX 30-series GPU with one of these PC deals

Graphics cards have been a real pain to purchase for the past few years. Whether it’s the global pandemic, chip shortage, crypto mining craze, or all of the above, it’s PC gamers who have paid the price (quite literally if buying from scalpers). Even Black Friday hasn’t done much so far to lend a helping hand, but HP may have a way for you to get hold of a GPU, with the added bonus of coming with a whole gaming PC.

The HP OMEN 30L is a brilliant PC. We reviewed it favorably and it’s all standard parts, unlike some system builders out there (looking at you, Dell). The best part is it’s on sale right now, and inside you have a choice of RTX 30-series GPU, including the best graphics card.

To add to the discounts, HP is also offering free shipping on these PCs through the Black Friday weekend, which helps a little. After all, they’re hardly lightweight. Buying a pre-built PC is still, sadly, the only easy way to get your hands on a new graphics card without paying an inflated price. At least this way you either get a new PC, or some hardware to sell off and recoup some of the investment.

HP OMEN 30L (RTX 3060) | Save $100

From $1,470 at HP

This is the lowest model we’d choose with an Intel Core i5-11400 CPU, RTX 3060 GPU, 256GB SSD, and 8GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. You can configure it yourself to have up to an Intel Core i7, 64GB of RAM, 3070 Ti, and a 2TB SSD.

HP OMEN 30L (RTX 3080) | Save $100

From $2,070 at HP

The next stage up takes us to the RTX 3080 GPU, bumping our CPU up to an Intel Core i7-10700K with 8GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, and a 256GB SSD. You can bump all this up to an RTX 3090, Intel Core i9, 64GB of RAM, and a 2TB SSD.

HP OMEN 30L (RTX 3080 Ti) | Save $100

$2,400 at HP

This is where things get really interesting for the 30L. For this price, you can get an 11th Gen Core i7 CPU, RTX 3080 Ti, 32GB of RAM, 2TB HDD, and a 512GB SSD. If you want a PC that will last for years to come, this is it.

There is an HP OMEN 30L that has a 2060 SUPER, but we wouldn’t recommend it as it’s just $100 less than the RTX 3060 configuration and the latter is a far superior GPU. The RTX 3060 is a beastly graphics card that can punch way above its weight and even run games comfortably at 1440p.

The RTX 3080 and above are reserved for those who want the best of the best. When looking at the price of GPUs at retailers and classified sites, you can easily spend upwards of $1,000 on an RTX 3060 alone, without any additional parts.

By purchasing a pre-built PC (and we’re monitoring the best Black Friday pre-built gaming PC deals) and either using it as your main gaming rig or extracting the GPU and selling the rest of the parts, you can save considerably. But if you don’t fancy forking out for an entire system, we are monitoring the best Black Friday PC parts deals, so be sure to keep tabs on that hub just in case a GPU deal happens to come online.

Time is running out on the best Plex Pass deal you'll see all year

If you’re sitting on a treasure trove of media files including all your favorite TV shows and movies, then you need a service like Plex. It helps you organize all of that and can even provide some cool features including a way to catalog all that media and add metadata. It is a fantastic way to manage your content, and the Plex Pass gives you access to a whole host of other features you’ll have to pay for to see.

Right now with the code LIFETIMEOFCOMFORT you can get 25% off the Plex Pass lifetime plan through the Plex website. That’s a plan that normally goes for $120, and you’re getting it for just $89.99 with this deal. That matches last year’s holiday savings, but this is the only time of the year Plex generally does this. Take advantage of it while you can because the savings go away on Nov. 29.

There is an optional way to save even more off that price. While checking out, just change your country to Brazil. That will bring the total down to R$374,99, which is the equivalent of just under $67. This is a trick that has been used in the past with this deal, but Plex has also been known to cut it off when it gets too popular. That’s nearly a 50% discount, so that’s understandable. The code above will still be working through Nov. 29 even if the Brazil trick doesn’t.

Plex Pass Lifetime Subscription

Use the code LIFETIMEOFCOMFORT and turn your network-attached storage into a full blown media hub for all of your TV shows, movies, music, and more. This deal expires on Nov. 29, so get it while you can.

$89.99 at Plex

Plex does more than just gather all of your media in one place. It also improves your collection by providing hardware transcoding. It also lets you access all your files from just about anywhere, including your smartphone or your smart TV or even your web browser on your computer.

Plus, Plex has its own content channels with podcasts and web shows and such. You’ll even gain access to parental controls that let you regulate how the media on your network is consumed by your family.

Plex and NAS go hand-in-hand and we have a great roundup of NAS that work with Plex. If you need some more ways to save, check out the best Cyber Monday deals on network-attached storage devices.

Get into streaming for under $50 with this awesome capture card deal

Streaming your console gaming exploits on Twitch or YouTube is a lot of fun, but the price of admission can put off some newcomers. It’s free to stream from your console directly to Twitch, but to take that next step; you’ll be looking at a capture card to use with your PC. Those can be pricey, but for Black Friday weekend, EVGA is swooping in with an absolute scorcher.

The EVGA XR1 Lite is down to just $45 right now at Amazon and it’s a perfect entry point into streaming for beginners. It requires minimal setup and even works across Mac and Linux as well as Windows.

EVGA XR1 Lite | Save 33%

With 4K pass-through, USB 3.0, and 1080p60 capture, this teeny little capture card is an absolute treat for streamers of all levels, especially beginners. It’s OBS certified, too, and works without the need for any drivers or specialist software.

$45 at Amazon

There are a couple of key specs that really make the difference here. The first is that it’s OBS Certified, which accompanies the XR1 Lite acting as a UVC capture device, thus requiring no drivers. Hence the total cross-platform support.

The other key spec is that it supports 4K60 pass-through and 1080p60 capture. If you’re on Twitch, especially, you’re going to be capped to 1080p60 content anyway, but thanks to the USB 3.0 connection on the XR1 Lite, you can also stream with low latency, so your words and reactions are in sync with the gameplay. And 4K60 makes it Xbox Series X and PS5 friendly.

The XR1 Lite is also a great alternative to the Elgato Cam Link if you’re looking for an additional device to hook up an external camera to your streams. It’s significantly cheaper while being just as plug-and-play.

Don’t expect this to hang about for too long, so definitely don’t miss out on a winning start to life as a streamer for a crazy low price.
