Overwatch 2 does not currently have a release date but, like Diablo 4, is not slated to launch in 2022.

Overwatch 2 is in closed beta testing right now, and Blizzard Entertainment is addressing some of the player feedback so far.

Blizzard Entertainment detailed some of the player feedback for Overwatch 2 in a blog post, noting that so far, players seem receptive to one of the game’s biggest changes: The shift to 5v5. The team notes that players seem to be having more fun and are reporting “feeling a greater sense of impact” through different matches.

Blizzard Entertainment also shared that right now, support players feel like there are less big changes to play around with compared to damage dealers and tank roles. The developers are working to address this by giving support characters “new or refreshed” abilities, though this probably won’t take affect in the current closed beta test.

The scoreboard is also going through some shifts, as it will now give statistics for all players in real time. There will also be special stats for specific heroes, such as details on Lucio’s environmental kills and Sound Barriers. The Medal system is being removed, as Blizzard believes that it was being misinterpreted and wasn’t helpful to players. The team is also working on improving various UI (user interface) elements on the scoreboard to make the layout more useful for all players.

Overwatch 2 does not currently have a release date, though like fellow Blizzard title Diablo 4, it won’t be launching in 2022. Overwatch 2 also consists of a campaign in addition to the multiplayer, though this campaign has been “decoupled” from the multiplayer and may not launch at the same time. Both Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 were delayed following the departure of former Blizzard Entertainment co-lead Jen Oneal in the wake of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit.
