You can choose from quilted or unquilted leather, along with various different grains, synthetic, vegan, and other options.

Beyond the different leather types and finishes, you can also add things like card slots and grips to the pouch. There’s the option for a belt clip, necklace holder, and engraving as well. Of course, there are a ton of different color options, too.

Watch Surface Duo get ripped apart, all to get at its hinge

Unfortunately, the Duo did not survive.

What you need to know

YouTuber JerryRigEverything recently tore down the Surface Duo to get a look at how its hinge works.
The hinge mechanism is surprisingly simple.
The Duo, unfortunately, did not survive. RIP.

We’ve previously seen the Surface Duo get torn down by the folks at iFixit, showing just how difficult it is to repair. Now, YouTuber JerryRigEverything has done his own Surface Duo teardown with a different goal in mind: getting to that hinge. If you’re sensitive to seeing smartphone guts torn apart, you may want to avert your eyes on this one.

Just to get it out of the way now: The Surface Duo does not survive this procedure. As it turns out, the foldable phone is very hard to open up without causing any damage, and the screen gets damaged nearly right away. However, by the end of the teardown, we get a look at the Surface Duo’s surprisingly simple hinge.

As JerryRigEverything notes, the hinge largely made up of two metal pieces that don’t have any moving parts. This keeps bits of debris from getting inside of the hinge and gumming things up, which was a major downside to Samsung’s first Galaxy Fold.

If you want to check out a Surface Duo for yourself — presumably without ripping it apart — it’s available to order now starting at $1,400.

Following Apple’s Sidecar launch, Astropad announces Luna Display for Windows

In June, Luna Display creator Astropad wrote a blog post titled, “Why Getting Sherlocked by Apple Was a Blessing in Disguise.” It arrived on the one-year anniversary of Apple’s launch of Sidecar for macOS, which let Mac owners use an iPad as a second display — thus making Luna’s functionality redundant.
The rose-colored post detailed how the company planned to pivot by diversifying its portfolio — in the case of Luna, that specifically meant launching a Windows version. “Later this summer, we’ll open up Astropad Studio for a free public beta on Windows,” the company wrote. “Not long after, we’ll be launching a Kickstarter campaign for an HDMI version of Luna Display.”

The makers of Duet Display and Luna on life after Apple’s Sidecar

Today the company launched a Kickstarter for its Windows version, two years after launching the original Mac dongle on the crowdfunding platform. Delivery is set for May 2021. Early-bird supporters can get on-board with the device for as low as $49 (down from a retail price of $80).
The dongle turns an iPad into a second display for a Windows PC, either wirelessly or tethered. The model comes in either USB-C of HDMI models, depending on the ports available on your machine. The second tablet can be used as a touchscreen for the extended monitor, which should work well with Windows 10, given how much Microsoft has tailored it to a touch experience.
I was a fan of the original Luna for Mac — though, like many, had less interest in the product as soon as Apple announced native support for Sidecar. Following the launch of Windows support, owners of the original Mac version will be able to use their existing device with PCs, as well. The device will work for Mac to iPad, Windows to iPad, Mac to Mac (with one laptop serving as a second screen) and a “headless mode,” with uses the iPad as a display for the Mac Mini and Mac Pro.

List of gangs in Cyberpunk 2077

Get details on Night City’s most wanted.

Much of Cyberpunk 2077 is spent dealing with different gangs, the factions that make up Night City’s underbelly. According to CD Projekt Red, you can’t exactly join a particular gang; however, you’ll often act as an in-between, taking on jobs and dealing with the gangs as friends or as foes, depending on your choices and chosen Lifepath.

Many of the gangs also have different rivalries with each other, meaning you’ll be choosing who to help at different points. Here’s a list of all the gangs in Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 gangs 6th Street

Initially founded by American veterans, 6th Street was meant to be a militia that protected neighborhoods from gangs. Over time, the group expanded into gun-running and smuggling, becoming more and more like an actual gang. They attract new members from retired security forces and military. Many are patriots for the New United States (NUSA) and can easily be noticed with their NUSA-themed attire.

Cyberpunk 2077 gangs Aldecaldos

The Aldecaldos are a gang situated in the Badlands outside Night City. We’re currently scarce for details otherwise.

Cyberpunk 2077 gangs Animals

A gang utterly obsessed with muscle-enhancing bioware and cyberware, the Animals frequently sell out their services as muscle, working as bodyguards or bouncers if the money is good. The Animals also have an interest in the underground fight scene. Taking them head-on is very dangerous due to their extreme strength and constitution. They’re currently involved in a Turf War with the Voodoo Boys.

Cyberpunk 2077 gangs Maelstrom

One of the most dangerous gangs, Maelstrom are utterly obsessed with cyberware body modification to a point that nearly induces cyber-psychosis, which causes an individual to dissociate and stop caring for other human beings. Maelstrom are incredibly violent and unpredictable and always pack deadly combat upgrades. They’re easily identifiable by their red eye-replacement optic hardware.

Cyberpunk 2077 gangs Moxes

The Moxes are something of a gang union, focused on protecting sex workers after the brutal death of a well-regarded brothel owner named Elizabeth Borden at the hands of Tyger Claws members. While they operate many brothels for income, they mostly stay out of the way of direct confrontation, except with the Tyger Claws.

Cyberpunk 2077 gangs Scavengers

The Scavengers are only a gang in a very loose sense of the term, lacking a real hierarchy or organization outside of individual groups. They have a particular focus on black market organ theft, chopping up unsuspecting victims to sell off their organs or cyberware.

Cyberpunk 2077 gangs Tyger Claws

The Tyger Claws stay quiet and break the knees of people who ask too many questions. The gang uses motorcycles to get around and also have limited cyberware such as reflex boosters, preferring to rely more on martial arts and high-tech equipment, the latter of which is often obtained from Arasaka Corporation, which maintains secret ties with the Tyger Claws. They also operate many businesses such as restaurants and brothels, which can be used as fronts for illegal activity.

Cyberpunk 2077 gangs Valentinos

Many of the Valentinos are of Mexican descent, though they welcome in others as well. A sense of family and respect is kept throughout the entire gang in celebrating Chicano culture. The Valentinos focus on drug trafficking and car theft, though they also operate some legitimate businesses.

Cyberpunk 2077 gangs Voodoo Boys

The Voodoo Boys are one of the most technically-focused gangs, intent on breaching the Blackwall that separates the old internet from the modern net. Since Haiti was wiped out due to climate change in 2062, the Voodoo Boys also work to protect the Haitian refugees living in Night City. The gang’s primary form of income is through digital theft.

Cyberpunk 2077 gangs Wraiths

The Wraiths are of the gangs located in the Badlands. Not much else is known about them at this time.

City of Dreams

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on November 19, 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Next-gen versions for the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PS5 versions are being worked on and should be available sometime post-launch.

A dark and gritty world

Cyberpunk 2077

The standard for next-gen.

Cyberpunk 2077 is the latest project from CD Projekt Red, the developers behind the Witcher 3. To follow up the game that defined a generation of gaming, Cyberpunk 2077 needed to be massive, ambitious, and captivating. Every indication says that CD Projekt Red is poised to repeat history with their sci-fi, open-world RPG adventure that allows you to choose.

Luna Display converts your iPad into a second screen for your Windows 10 PC

A popular app for Mac users, Luna Display, is on its way to Windows PCs.

What you need to know

Luna Display is being released with support for Windows 10.
Luna Display lets you use an iPad as a secondary display to your PC through a wireless or wired connection.
Luna Display is available for preorder on Kickstarter and should start shipping within six months.

Luna Display is a popular app that allows you to use your iPad as a second display for your computer. Previously, Luna Display was only available for Macs, but now it is on its way to Windows. Astropad, the makers of Luna Display, launched a Kickstarter today for the Windows version of the app. The lowest pledge that gets you access to Luna Display is currently $49.

Luna Display utilizes a small dongle that you place inside your PC. That dongle allows your computer to connect to your iPad wirelessly through Wi-Fi, though you can use it with a wired connection if you prefer.

Once connected, Luna Display acts like any other secondary monitor. You can drag apps back and forth between your two displays, interact with touch on your iPad, and even use the Apple Pencil to draw on your Windows apps.

Luna Display earned solid marks when our friends at iMore reviewed it a couple of years ago. The PC version should deliver similar results.

Generally speaking, you need to take caution when committing to a Kickstarter project. You should feel more comfortable with Luna Display, however, as it’s been around for years on Mac.

Upgrade to 4K with Dell's 27-inch monitor on sale for $315 at Amazon

The Dell S2721Q 4K UHD monitor is down to $314.99 at Amazon. You can also find this same price through the Dell website. This is a brand new monitor that was just released near the beginning of September. It hasn’t been on sale before, and today’s price marks the lowest we’ve seen anywhere. This is a huge deal if you consider the very similar S2721DGF, which only has a 2K resolution, is even more expensive right now.

The S2721Q has a pixel resolution of 3840 x 2160. That’s a 4K screen right there. It also has a response time as fast as 4ms and a refresh rate of 60Hz. A 60Hz refresh rate is standard for a 4K screen, especially one on the budget end. This monitor also uses an IPS panel for color accuracy. IPS panels also give you great viewing angles up to 178 degrees both horizontally and vertically.

Other features include AMD’s FreeSync tech to reduce screen-tearing, which means you can use your AMD graphics card to reduce motion blur and smooth out your graphics. That’s great for gaming. The display also has HDR Ready technology, which means you can take advantage of the HDR support and watch HDR content.

In addition to the 4K resolutions, you also get a great design. Three of the four sides are nearly bezel-less so you will be fully immersed in the screen. The elegant design has a subtle textured pattern on the back, too.

There are two 3W speakers built into the screen. The connectivity options include DisplayPort and two HDMI ports. If you plan on using this monitor for long periods of time, it has flicker free tech and ComfortView to help you keep your eyes comfortable and less fatigued. It comes with a stand but can also be mounted to a wall thanks to 100×100 VESA mounting.

Dfinity’s valuation soars to $9.5Bn after revealing its governance system and token economics

We’ve been tracking one of the few genuinely interesting stories to come out of the blockchain world, ever since Dfinity raised $102M from Andreessen Horowitz and Polychain Capital for a decentralised ‘Internet Computer’ to rival AWS in August last year. It later revealed more this past January, and has since then started to open up to developers.
But today it unveils it’s governance system and token economics. This will mean the market knows for first time how it will allow a mathematical calculation of valuations, based on token supply and futures price.
The effect of this is that the company is now valued at a notional $9.5bn, and as such would make it a top five cryptocurrency. The last valuation was $2bn, based on a $105mn round led by Andreessen and Polychain in August 2018.
Today it launches the “Network Nervous System (NNS)”, an open algorithmic governance system that controls Dfinitiy’s “Internet Computer” and acts as its brain.
Dubbed the Sodium network, this reveals the novel algorithmic governance and the token economics needed to build ‘decentralized finance’ (DeFi) and dapps, open internet services, and pan-industry enterprise systems. Sodium is the last milestone before the public launch of the Internet Computer later this year, when it will be spun out as part of the public internet.
Dominic Williams, founder and chief scientist of the Dfinity Foundation commented in a statement: “The NNS now means the Internet Computer is feature complete. It represents a seminal moment in the history of the internet. For the first time, internet services will be governed in a completely independent, decentralized manner. It is the technical solution to the systemic problems Big Tech has created with its monopoly over the internet, a public utility that should be completely open — bringing back the concept of the programmable web. The NNS is the catalyst for the open internet we were promised in the 1990s, and it ensures that the future of the internet remains open and free.”
Dfinity’s ‘Internet Computer’ is effectively a ‘blockchain computer’ powered by a network of independent data centers, allowing software to run anywhere on the internet rather than on Amazon, Google, and Microsoft -controlled server farms. Dfinity is pitching it as – eventually – an alternative to the $3.9-trillion-dollar IT stack in operation today.
Dfinity is backed by Andreessen Horowitz (via its crypto fund a16z crypto), Polychain Capital, SV Angel, Aspect Ventures, Village Global, Multicoin Capital, Scalar Capital, and Amino Capital, KR1, as well as Dfinity community members.

Dfinity’s valuation soars to .5Bn after revealing its governance system and token economics
